Unzafilms under Artfilms Zambia

Unzafilms located at the University of Zambia is one of the branches of Artfilms Zambia. Artfilms Zambia is an art based organization whose main interest is to promote artistic works in Zambia specifically those to do with film making and performances. Artfilms is there to help develop the film industry in Zambia and Africa as a whole. This is done through film production, training actors, script writers, film producers, film directors, camera operators and the film production crew in general. Artfilms Zambia was formerly known as Arts Academy or the Academy of Arts based in Lusaka Zambia.

Artfilms Zambia formerly ‘Arts Academy’ is registered with the National Arts Council, and the University of Zambia. At the university, it is registered as ’UNZA Acting and Film Production Society (UNZAFILMS) where all the operations are temporarily carried out.
Artfilms Zambia was established on the 5th of September 2007 in Lusaka. Certificate training course for the first intake commenced in the same year on 23rd October at the university of Zambia Great East Road Campus under a student association called “UNZA Acting and Film production Society”.

There are several activities Artfilms Zambia undertake which can be categorized into two main streams – film production and stage performances. The training of actors, script writers, film producers and directors, camera and the technical crew is done seasonally to prepare them for the two main activities mentioned above.

1. Invisible theatre on busses, higher institutions if learning and markets on keep Zambia learn and HIV/AIDS sensitization campaigns.
2. Hosted shows at play house, Alliance Francei, Sylva Guest house, Chitchat, and higher institutions of learning.
3. Our play Worn an Award for Anti |Xenophobia Campaign in 2008

Certificate Program
Since its inception, certificate courses in acting, script writing, producing, directing and video shooting have been on going.
